⁦@tea_francis⁩ Tea! I was cleaning out the garage earlier and this individual, (now ‘Marion’) pretty much tried to take the broom out of hand and beat me to death with it. Any info on the beauty you could give? @williamespring William Spring l Natural History Artist Videos and pictures

Finished the little blighter a day ahead of schedule. So a head start with whatever’s next on the list. Have to say... tortoise... very satisfying to do. And small pebbles for that matter. Watercolour @williamespring William Spring l Natural History Artist Videos and pictures

I’m beginning to wonder if I’ll ever finish this tortoise. Slow in every way it seems but have to have the guy done by Friday! @williamespring William Spring l Natural History Artist Videos and pictures

Today’s appropriately slow (but steady) tortoise progress. Faster than it took to do the background though. Watercolour. @williamespring William Spring l Natural History Artist Videos and pictures

Is it true? No more cropping of pics! If so I can show work in the proper space on the sheet they occupy. @williamespring William Spring l Natural History Artist Videos and pictures

Been feeling a bit ‘blocked’ this week. A lot got binned. So an unblocking exercise. Watercolour. @williamespring William Spring l Natural History Artist Videos and pictures

Managed to find a few hours this pm to finish off this painting and take a typically very poor photo of it. (Is it just my rubbish camera?) You can’t tell, but this represents a new step in how I work. Watercolour 7 x 5” @williamespring William Spring l Natural History Artist Videos and pictures

After a morning of pointlessly comparing myself to others I’m now sat staring at a wildly intimidating piece of paper. I know what should go on it but it’s not quite clear in the minds eye yet. Tea needed I think. @williamespring William Spring l Natural History Artist Videos and pictures

Yesterday’s ‘itch scratch’ and experimenting / development. Sadly not photography development but I have to accept my shortcomings. @williamespring William Spring l Natural History Artist Videos and pictures

Almost finished and in record time! Also discovered I quite enjoying painting branches. Hooray! The little known, fascinating and almost unbearably adorable Colugo. Watercolour. @williamespring William Spring l Natural History Artist Videos and pictures

Why isn’t my email working? Why won’t it send for hours then does? Why are ‘sent’ emails being bounced back months later? I don’t understand. Why isn’t it all cogs and levers? Why is the ‘cloud’ essentially a mind of its own? I’m old. It’s confusing!

@peterdeseve It shouldn’t interfere with the paints but if in doubt you could brush a thin layer of aquafix (my Gaulish name) and that will sort it. @williamespring William Spring l Natural History Artist Videos and pictures

@peterdeseve No sweat. Pic attached. Basically I pour a little in a dish and with a soft brush just smooth it on. And after throwing away several brushes discovered I had to use meths to clean up. @williamespring William Spring l Natural History Artist Videos and pictures

I wished I’d broken open the bottle of varnish sooner! Especially for miniatures (my favourite things to do) It makes everything richer, deeper. Been going back over some earlier work with new found varnishing zeal. @williamespring William Spring l Natural History Artist Videos and pictures

After 15 y of daily use I have to concede that my beloved boots have had it. As I stare at them and contemplate how I can possibly afford new ones I do wonder what it must be like to have flipping great wedges of cash. Unless someone knows how to repair DM soles. @williamespring William Spring l Natural History Artist Videos and pictures

Ooh. I’ve never varnished a watercolour before. Thinks it works! One more coat later maybe. @williamespring William Spring l Natural History Artist Videos and pictures

Occasionally you have to get something out of the way that you need to do rather than have to do. Scratch the itch so to speak. Hence this miniature wolf. Watercolour 4 x 6”. Barring a few tweaks, I can get on. @williamespring William Spring l Natural History Artist Videos and pictures

Slowly working another wolf. Might have to put it aside for a week for a mull. Watercolour. @williamespring William Spring l Natural History Artist Videos and pictures

Apparently it’s #WorldArtDay so here’s a few of my watercolours. The infinite beauty of the entirety of nature is overwhelming, but I try to do it justice in my small way. @williamespring William Spring l Natural History Artist Videos and pictures
